In China the Toyota Corolla Cross compact SUV is built by two joint ventures: FAW Toyota sells it as the Corolla Cross and GAC Toyota as the Frontlander. Both offer a 2.0-litre petrol engine and Toyota's 2.0-litre self-charging hybrid, with front-wheel drive. THE MODEL
One Corolla Cross, two joint ventures.
The Corolla Cross 卡罗拉锐放 and the Frontlander 锋兰达 are the Toyota Corolla Cross (XG10), shown at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2021. FAW Toyota builds the Corolla Cross in Tianjin, and GAC Toyota builds the Frontlander in Guangzhou with the front and rear styling of the Japanese-market car. The Frontlander is sold only in China. Both are on sale in 2026 and share a 2,640 mm wheelbase, 1,825 mm width and 1,625 mm height; the Corolla Cross is 4,460 mm long, the Frontlander 4,490 mm.
Both were updated in autumn 2025: the Frontlander on 23 September and the Corolla Cross on 28 October. The range is a 2.0-litre petrol engine (126 kW, 205 Nm) with a CVT, and a 2.0-litre hybrid with a 116 kW engine and Toyota's e-CVT; every version is front-wheel drive. The updated Frontlander has a 12.9-inch floating centre screen on a Snapdragon 8155 chip, and the Corolla Cross gained a new grille and a larger centre screen.

Trim names are translated from Chinese: Pioneer 先锋, Elite 精英, Luxury 豪华, Comfort 舒适, Leading 领先, Premium 尊贵. The hybrid's petrol engine gives 116 kW (158 hp); the petrol versions use a CVT with ten simulated steps. The export price is quoted per version, volume and destination.

How the China Corolla Cross differs.
Two names, two front ends
In China the car is sold as the Corolla Cross by FAW Toyota and the Frontlander by GAC Toyota. The Frontlander uses the Japanese-market styling and is 30 mm longer, and the two have different trim names and equipment, so we state the exact model and version per VIN.
China engine line-up
The China range is a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre hybrid, both front-wheel drive. Corolla Crosses sold elsewhere often use other engines, such as Toyota's 1.8-litre hybrid, so check parts and service support for the exact engine in your market.
China-market screen and software
The centre screen runs China-market software with Chinese navigation and connected services. We confirm the software language and which connected functions work outside China on the quotation.
Left-hand drive and China 6
Every China-market Corolla Cross and Frontlander is left-hand drive and certified to the China 6 emission standard. An approval for the Corolla Cross sold in your market does not automatically cover the China version, so confirm homologation for the exact version before you order.

Chile

UAE and Saudi Arabia
The China Corolla Cross and Frontlander are China-specification cars, not Gulf-spec, so check cooling and climate equipment per VIN. Nigeria
Duties and levies are a large part of landed cost in Nigeria, so we quote CIF Lagos and you work out the duty with your clearing agent first.
