THE BRAND
A British name, built by SAIC.
MG started out as a British sports-car marque and is now owned by SAIC Motor, the state-owned carmaker based in Shanghai. Its cars are built mainly in China, and the China-market range mixes petrol sedans (MG5, MG7), electric cars (the new MG4, the MG 4X and the Cyberster roadster) and the MG 07, which comes as an EV or a plug-in hybrid.
MG uses the same badges worldwide, but not always on the same car. The new MG4 sold in China is the car the UK knows as the MG4 Urban, not the earlier MG4 EV, and some MGs sold abroad have no MG-badged version in China at all. We quote by China-market model and VIN, with the nearest export equivalent named alongside.

Same badge, different car
An MG sold in your market may not match the car that carries the same name in China. Each line of our quotation names the China-market model, its export equivalent where one exists, and the charging standard and software language, confirmed per model before you pay.
Petrol MG5 and MG7
The MG5 and MG7 are conventional petrol sedans with no charging needs, which suits markets with little charging infrastructure. They can share a shipment with MG's electric models. See petrol cars from China.
Battery type stated per unit
Some versions of the MG4, MG 4X and MG 07 use a semi-solid-state battery rather than conventional cells; the quotation states which one each VIN has. Electric and plug-in units ship with a battery state-of-health reading plus the UN38.3 test summary and MSDS.

Is MG a British or a Chinese brand?
Both, in a sense. MG began as a British marque and is now owned by SAIC Motor of Shanghai, which builds MG cars mainly in China. The cars we export are China-market MGs, built in China and left-hand drive.
Can I import MGs from China if MG has a dealer in my country?
MG has official importers in many markets, and Tongda Motors is not one of them: we are an independent exporter buying China-market cars in China. Check how your market treats parallel imports, and the registration of these versions, before you order 10 units or more.
Do you ship petrol MGs as well as electric ones?
Yes. The MG5 and MG7 petrol sedans can go in the same order as the MG4, MG 4X or MG 07, under one document pack, FOB, CIF or DAP from Nansha, Shekou or Guangzhou. Tell us your market and we suggest a mix that fits its fuel and charging situation.
