BYD Sea Lion 06: the mid-size SUV that replaced the Song Plus
The Sea Lion 06 is a mid-size SUV from BYD's Ocean series, sold in China as a rear-wheel-drive EV and as a DM-i plug-in hybrid. It took over from the Song Plus in 2025. Tongda Motors exports new, zero-mileage and used units to dealers, fleets and importers, each inspected against its VIN before you pay, with a battery state-of-health report, from one unit to a full fleet.

THE MODEL
One SUV, two powertrains.
The Sea Lion 06 海狮06 went on sale in China on 24 July 2025 as the successor to the Song Plus in BYD's Ocean line-up. It is 4,810 mm long and 1,920 mm wide on a 2,820 mm wheelbase, a little larger than the Song Plus, and comes as a battery-electric EV and a DM-i plug-in hybrid with the same body. Both use BYD's own Blade LFP battery.
The 2026 Sea Lion 06 EV, launched on 5 March 2026, has a second-generation Blade battery of 69.07 kWh for 605 km CLTC or 82.73 kWh for 710 km, and a single rear motor of 240 kW or 270 kW. The 2026 Sea Lion 06 DM-i followed on 26 May 2026 with BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid: a 1.5-litre engine (74 kW), a front motor and a battery giving 205 km or 310 km of CLTC electric range. Both have a 15.6-inch rotating centre screen, DiSus-C adaptive damping as standard and an optional lidar driver-assistance package (DiPilot 300).

Not the export Sealion 6
Outside China, BYD sells the Song Plus DM-i as the Sealion 6 or Seal U DM-i. The Sea Lion 06 is a different, newer and larger SUV that replaced the Song Plus in China, so make sure your buyers know which car they are getting. We quote by China-market name and VIN.
GB/T charging
China-market Sea Lion 06 units, EV and DM-i, have GB/T charging inlets for AC and DC, not the CCS2 inlet used in Europe and many other markets. In a CCS2 market your buyers need GB/T charging equipment or adapters; we confirm the inlet type per VIN.
China-market software
The 15.6-inch screen runs BYD's China-market DiLink software with Chinese navigation and connected services. We confirm the menu language and which connected functions work outside China on the quotation.
Left-hand drive and homologation
Every China-market Sea Lion 06 is left-hand drive, and the DM-i is certified to the China 6 emission standard. There is no confirmed export version of the Sea Lion 06 yet, so confirm homologation for the exact China version before you order.

Chile
Chile broadly bars used passenger-car imports into the mainland, so for Chilean registration we quote new units; your customs broker confirms how a zero-mileage unit registered in China is treated. Peru
Peru drives on the right, so the left-hand-drive China Sea Lion 06 needs no conversion. Where charging is thin, the DM-i runs on electricity in town and petrol on the highway. UAE and Saudi Arabia
The China Sea Lion 06 is a China-specification car, not Gulf-spec, so check battery cooling and climate equipment per VIN. Saudi Arabia requires conformity certificates through SABER, which must be confirmed for the China version; the UAE free zone also suits re-export. See UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Nigeria
Duties and levies are a large part of landed cost in Nigeria, so we quote CIF Lagos and you work out the duty with your clearing agent first. Should I choose the Sea Lion 06 EV or DM-i?
The EV is rear-wheel drive with 605 km or 710 km CLTC range and suits markets with reliable charging. The DM-i is front-wheel drive with a 1.5-litre engine and 205 km or 310 km of electric range, so it keeps going on petrol where charging is scarce. Both share the body and cabin.
Can I order zero-mileage or used Sea Lion 06s?
Yes. Tongda Motors is approved by the Chinese authorities to export used vehicles, and every unit is photographed and inspected against its VIN before you pay, with a battery state-of-health report. Used 2025 units have different batteries and ranges (for example a 121 km or 170 km DM-i, or a 520 km EV), so we state version, battery and mileage per VIN.
