THE MAKER
China's top commercial-vehicle exporter, by its own count.
Foton (Beiqi Foton Motor) was founded in 1996, is based in Beijing and belongs to the BAIC Group. It builds everything from mini trucks and pickups to buses and heavy trucks. Its heavy trucks carry the Auman name and are made by Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive (BFDA), a 50:50 joint venture with Daimler formed in 2012. Engines come from Beijing Foton Cummins, a 50:50 joint venture with Cummins, and gearboxes from Foton ZF.
Foton reports more than 164,500 vehicles sold abroad in 2025 and says it has led China's commercial-vehicle exports for 15 years in a row. It sells in more than 140 countries and runs country sites for markets including Peru, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. In November 2025 it launched Galaxus, a new heavy-truck platform for diesel, gas, hybrid, electric and hydrogen power.

Foton Cummins and Foton ZF
Foton calls the Auman driveline its Super Power Train: a Foton Cummins engine with a Foton ZF automated (AMT) gearbox. The Auman C uses a 12-litre engine with 2,300 Nm of torque and a 16-tonne rear axle.
Daimler-linked cabs
Foton builds Auman cabs to Europe's ECE R29 crash rules (R29-03 on the Auman R). Foton's New Zealand distributor states that the Auman R was developed together with Daimler Truck.
Earlier Auman models
Before the current range, Foton exported the Auman EST, launched in 2017 and sold in Peru, Chile, Russia, Kenya, Thailand and Malaysia, and the Auman GTL with Cummins ISG engines. We can quote used units of both where available; see used trucks from China.
Emission level
We confirm the engine model and its emission level for every truck on the quotation. Trucks built for China since July 2021 meet China VI, largely equivalent to Euro VI, and are designed for 10 ppm-sulphur diesel; check what your market registers before choosing a used China-market truck.

Is Foton Auman a Daimler truck?
No. Auman is a Foton brand. Auman heavy trucks are made by BFDA, a 50:50 joint venture between Foton and Daimler formed in 2012, and most use engines from Foton's 50:50 joint venture with Cummins. They are sold as Foton trucks, not Mercedes-Benz.
